How do we quantify the generous hearts of our Desert Coast Region members? Look at our  amazing response to this year's Spring Conference service project, Purses for a Purpose.  Clubs from Imperial Valley, San Diego, North San Diego County, Orange County, and Los Angeles County provided more than 700 new or gently used handbags which will be donated to shelters and other agencies in our service areas.  Even our official visitor brought purses from Japan!

Representatives of WHW, an Orange County agency providing the unemployed and underemployed with skills and resources they need to get and keep a job, were the first among many to benefit.  They left our Summit with four carts loaded with purses.  Chief Program Officer, Robyn Williams, our Summit keynote speaker, sent her thanks, stating:

"We appreciate the purses and hygiene items that the Soroptomist women provided to help equip WHW job seekers. You certainly demonstrate generosity and the power of giving and we are grateful for all that you and the women do to empower others."

We'll share more stories from this project as the purses are disbursed in our communities.  Thanks to everyone who participated!
